Weligama is a town on Sri Lanka's southern coast that is part of the Southern Province. The name Weligama, which alludes to the region's sandy sweep bay, literally translates as "sandy village." It is located at an elevation of 9 meters above sea level and is around 144 kilometers south of Colombo.
